Metal 3D Printing is the latest in a long line of innovations by Croft Filters. This is an advanced process that involves fusing materials, layer by layer, to make objects from a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawing. It is the exact opposite of conventional subtractive manufacturing processes, such as punching, turning and cutting.
Metal 3D Printing employs three-dimensional printing to transform engineering design files into fully functional, durable objects, made of a wide variety of materials. Our Metal 3D Printing system takes a CAD file and repeatedly lays down fine powdered material, fusing it to gradually build the finished product.
This process is enabling the design of filters with superior flow efficiency rates that retain the mechanical properties of materials our customers are familiar with in conventionally manufactured filters. Geometrically optimised, the new filter designs we are able to create can generate considerable savings in terms of pumping energy costs.
The future of filter manufacturing, Metal 3D Printing delivers a number of major advantages besides superior design. With no weld/join lines, the parts are inherently stronger – and since this process eliminates a number of stages used in conventional manufacturing, they can also be produced much more rapidly.
