Croft Filters supply cone filters, commonly used in a number of industry sectors. These filters can be manufactured in almost any size and specification, using a wide variety of materials. Usually placed inline in a fluid stream, they are generally used for high-velocity fluid flow applications.
Their design includes a perforated cone supporting one or more fine wire meshes, as per the filtration requirement. Witches' hat strainers are the most common type of conical filters used in industry, due to their well-established design and effective filtration qualities.
They do, however, have a higher-pressure differential across them than other kinds of filters. The load is also distributed unequally, since the flow is directed to the central portion of the filter.
Nonetheless, the low open areas make these filters very popular for all kinds of industrial applications - as does the simplicity of design.
