Croft passes quality test with flying colours
Warrington based Croft Engineering Services ISO9001:2008 accreditation, first awarded to the company in October 2001, has been approved again following an audit of the company’s Quality Management System.
The audit, completed in August 2009, found that the company ‘demonstrated ongoing commitment and support to their Quality System and standard’ and that their ‘system documentation and records are easy to follow and maintained to a good standard’.
The report also identified that ‘the company’s housekeeping was found to be exemplary, particularly at workshop level’ and that ‘it is obvious that the management team and staff take a great deal of pride and care in what they do’.
The audit process was based on random sampling. During the assessment all staff contacted were found to be ‘confident about their work and demonstrated commitment to the audit process’ and the auditors commented that they ‘are confident that the company’s customers will receive products in a “Quality Assured” environment’.
The auditors were also impressed by the company’s commitment to customer issues which was demonstrated by good customer feedback and the fact that the company won an award for Customer Care in the 2008 Warrington Business Awards and a further award for Social Responsibility and the Environment in 2009.
Croft scoops top accolade at Warrington Business Awards
Croft Engineering Services’ commitment to social responsibility and the environment has been recognised by the Warrington Business Awards.
The Warrington-based engineering business received the Social Responsibility and Environmental Award at the ceremony held at the Park Royal Hotel in Stretton on 10 July 2009.
Across the company, Croft Engineering Services has a strong sense of environmental and social responsibility and this is what impressed the judges.
In its workshop, packaging is recycled with very little material actually sent to scrap and often re-used in a different capacity. In addition, customers are actively encouraged to re-mesh filters rather than replace.
The Croft Interchange initiative is the newest service provided by the company. It has been introduced as many companies spend thousands of pounds every year on throwaway filters, a wasteful practice that draws on more resources and harms the environment. Under the scheme the company assesses whether there is an opportunity to supply a metal filter to do the same job, which can be cleaned, refurbished and then reused.
As far as sourcing new materials is concerned, Croft Engineering Services is committed to buying quality materials with mesh sourced from Europe only.
The company recycles as much office waste as possible and has an area for produce with potatoes, lettuce and tomatoes currently growing in a small garden!
Croft is dedicated to supporting the local community and is a major sponsor of the Croft Carnival. In addition, the local Air Cadets have also benefited financially from Croft as have both the Guides and Scouts with the use of the company van.

New rental and storage service for temporary strainers (12.06.09)
Croft Engineering Services (CES), the Warrington based filter manufacturer, has today launched a new rental service aimed at those companies that require temporary strainers.
The new service has been launched as the company recognises that the outright purchase of temporary strainers can be an expensive exercise, particularly as they are often used just once.
The new service means that companies can now rent wire mesh and perforated plate strainers for as long as required. Once finished with the strainers can then be returned to CES.
If companies still want to purchase strainers then CES is also offering a storage service. So once finished with, strainers are returned where they will be inspected, cleaned as necessary and then stored ready for another day. Should any repairs be necessary then the company will be notified.
Neil Burns, partner at CES, comments: “Not only is this more cost effective and removes storage headaches, but it’s also better for the environment as we can re-mesh and re-use existing filters. And as we hold numerous strainers in stock we can ensure a quick turnaround and deliver to our customers’ timescales.”
Working with a wide variety of materials, the company undertakes manufacturing and fabrication in-house, producing bespoke filters and strainers through to larger repeat orders for international companies. It has over 23 years of experience and its filter products are used in many diverse applications, from filtering coolant water in the power industry through to filtration systems for the chemical, oil and gas industries.
“Our agile manufacturing and bespoke filter production are standing us in good stead,” continues Neil. “We have lots of experience in the production of filters and with heightened awareness about regulatory and environmental issues and the need for specialist, bespoke filters we are seeing an increase in production in this area.
