Dixon Rings

The Dixon Ring was invented by Olaf George Dixon in 1946 and is made from stainless steel mesh material, in various sizes, some as small as 1/16".

Due to the excessive manufacturing costs in making such tiny components in such huge quantities, manufacturing capability was never discovered and this process has never been used to its potential - until now.

Croft Engineering Services have developed a new machine that automates the entire manufacturing process of Dixon Rings at high speed. The outstanding design skills and manufacturing excellence of Croft employees has proved crucial in all stages of this in-house machine development. Project commitment and enthusiasm has now paid off as custom built machines can produce very high volumes of Dixon Rings.

Random Column Packing

Dixon Rings are made from stainless steel mesh material and they range in size from 1/16", 1/8" and 1/4" diameter. When millions of tiny Dixon Rings are packed into distillation columns, the emergent property is a remarkably large surface area in a small volume.
